The Immortal Circus Blog Tour Week One: Review, Teaser, and Giveaway

Hey guys! I'm part of a very extensive, ten week blog tour involving four blogs, each on a court (The Winter and Summer courts) competing to promote the kindle serial, The Immortal Circus. This week here at the Non Reluctant Reader there's a review of the first installment of the serial and a teaser from the serial! Read on!

The Immortal Circus by A.R. Kahler
Starting Date ~ 12/4/12
Format ~ Kindle Serial
Publisher ~ 47North
Murdered contortionists aren’t exactly what Vivienne signed up for when she ran away to join the circus. But like most things under the big top, nothing is what it seems. With a past she can't quite remember, Vivienne finds that running away forever might not be as appealing as it once sounded—especially not when she realizes the devilishly attractive ringleader Mab is the Faerie Queen of legend…and that she and the rest of the troupe are locked in an age-old rivalry between the otherworldly Courts.
Aided by her friends Kingston—a feisty stage magician whose magic is quickly stealing her heart—and his smart-ass assistant Melody, Vivienne finds herself racing against the clock to discover the culprit behind a series of deaths that should be impossible. However, the answer she seeks might reveal more about her own bloody past—and future—than she bargains for.
The show's just beginning.
Step right up...

Review
The beginning of The Immortal Circus is probably like nothing you've ever read before. It pulls you in, seduces you, and leaves you with baited breath for the next installment.

The writing style is simply incredible! With lush, picturesque describing words that paint such a vivid, dark picture in your mind.  Full of mystery and intrigue, and very, very intimate. Kahler creates a very dream-like state for the reader.

The main character, Vivienne is someone you don't really no anything about from the beginning. There's almost no back story and it has you waiting to know something about her. You also know that there's a probably a dark secret about her.

I'm not a huge fan of serials, but if this is how this serial is going to go down, then  bring it on! It's been amazing so far!

Teaser
“This isn’t like any other circus,” Mab said, her fingers idly caressing the handle of a whip coiled on her desk. The book of names and contracts had flown back to the shelf behind her, and now she was staring at me with green eyes as intent as a jaguar’s. “All of our performers have…eccentricities.”
...
“But I don’t have any talents,” I said, thinking we should have had this conversation before I signed the contract.“Oh, love, everyone has a talent. Yours will blossom in time. Trust me.” She smiled at me, and something in her eyes told me that I didn’t have a choice.
