Laurel hasn't seen Tamani since she begged him to let her go last year. Though her heart still aches, Laurel is confident that David was the right choice.
But just as life is returning to normal, Laurel discovers that a hidden enemy lies in wait. Once again, Laurel must turn to Tamani to protect and guide her, for the danger that now threatens Avalon is one that no faerie thought would ever be possible. And for the first time, Laurel cannot be sure that her side will prevail.
Aprilynne Pike just keeps getting better (and better, and better)! In my Spells review (which went up Thursday) you'll notice I said Spells was so much better then Wings. Well Illusions is better then both of them!

Illusions starts in a blissful period of Laurel's life, with Laurel and her human boyfriend David both enjoying high school. But when Tamani, a faerie Laurel has a deep connection to shows up again at her school posing as a normal high schooler, it plunges readers head first into a fast paced, deftly developed ride  with trolls attacking, mysterious new faeries showing up, and a head on war between Tamani and David for Laurel's affection.

In the previous two books I wasn't too sure who was my favorite guy in the love triangle I was leaning toward Team David, but after reading Illusions I now have no doubts that David is the better dude! Tamani is rude, self absorbed, and just plan moody. But according to the YA novel code that means he has to end up with Laurel, right?

Wicked awesome, unique, and just plan epic, Illusions is sure to please any kind of reader!
Cover Comments: The painting is nice (at least I think it's a painting), but it's not a very eye catching cover.

  1. Hehe, YA novel code. It rarely seems to work on my favor, but I hope it does in this case. I'm Team Tamani all the way! Sorry, Benji. I seriously wonder how it's going to end in Destined, though...

I'm glad you're liking these books! I loved the first three myself.

  4. I know Tamani is rude. but I still leaned toward Team Tamani. Sometimes it is better to be with your own kind! Just sayin....
