Guest Post: Jennifer Shaw Wolf - Author Bio

Today I'm pleased to welcome Jennifer Shaw Wolf, author of Breaking Beautiful here for a guest post!
Allie lost everything the night her boyfriend, Trip, died in a horrible car accident—including her memory of the event. As their small town mourns his death, Allie is afraid to remember because doing so means delving into what she’s kept hidden for so long: the horrible reality of their abusive relationship.
When the police reopen the investigation, it casts suspicion on Allie and her best friend, Blake, especially as their budding romance raises eyebrows around town. Allie knows she must tell the truth. Can she reach deep enough to remember that night so she can finally break free? Debut writer Jennifer Shaw Wolf takes readers on an emotional ride through the murky waters of love, shame, and, ultimately, forgiveness.

Author Bio

Jennifer Shaw Wolf has been writing since her story, “The Mystery of the Missing Poodle” won her a spot in a young writer’s workshop. The climax of that story was when the parrot revealed the thief by saying, “The butter (of course he meant the butler) did it.” The revelation came as a shock to everyone in her third grade class, all of whom were featured in the story’s incredibly large cast of characters.

By age eleven she had moved on to more daring writing endeavors. In the sixth grade, she and her best friend decided that the school should have a newspaper. When their teacher didn’t embrace the idea, they went ahead with an underground paper which had about two issues before they realized that writing is hard work. (Something she’s still learning today.)

In junior high Jennifer served on her school’s yearbook and newspaper staff. She was fully in charge of the page that ripped off jokes from Reader’s Digest and puzzles from other magazines. She was forced to writer her own jokes (none of which were actually funny) after she found out that this was a copyright violation.

In high school, Jennifer joined the all-girls yearbook staff. Because she had three brothers she was nominated to write sports copy. She wrote exciting stories about everything from football to wrestling to rodeo. Her work can still be found in South Fremont high school Tattlers dated from 1990-1992.

As a broadcasting major at BYU, Jennifer learned to write short, easily interpreted pieces for the college news program about hard hitting issues such as “What Happened to all the On-Campus Parking?”

After marriage, baby, and graduation (in that order) Jennifer’s writing skills were relegated to grocery lists which for the next ten years included diapers. (For four kids, it didn’t take us that long to potty train the oldest.) She was still a voracious reader and some of the books actually had words with multiple syllables.

About the time she no longer had to put “diapers” on the list she read a little-known book called TWILIGHT. For some reason, this story made her remember all of the stories that had been floating around in her head for the last thirty-mumble mumble years. She decided to see what it would take to write one down. Four months later she had her first completed manuscript. Two years and two completed manuscripts later, she wrote her debut novel, BREAKING BEAUTIFUL which come out April 24th 2012.

Jennifer has come full circle with another mystery, BREAKING BEAUTIFUL . However, this one has a more complex plot and doesn’t feature a parrot or her entire third grade class.

(Disclaimer: this is not her official author bio)
