Armchair BEA is a yearly event that allows bloggers to participate in BEA from their home.
Today's Topic:
Beyond the Blog
Today I share with you what kind of bookish things I've done beyond the blog!
Okay, I'm just going to get this off my chest. I lose interest in whatever I'm working on very, very fast. I can't stick to one story, because by the next day, I'll want to trash it and write something new. Which is why blogging is perfect for me: the posts average almost a page long so I don't end up having to stick with the same topic a lot. One day, when I get older, I hope to sit down and actually write a full novel. But til then, I'm going to stick with blogging!
Next topic: Would I like to write somewhere else besides my blog? I think if I could end up getting a few reviews published in my local paper would be great. Though my local paper is not that in-depth, so I'm not going to hold my breathe.
Making money with the blog: I currently link up to The Book Depository book page in every review and am a BD affiliate, though I haven't made too money with that. I'd like to start doing blogads, but as I'm 12, there are a few legal issues I have to be worried about (I think) if I want to do that.
What about you? I'd love to hear your tips and tricks!
I think it's amazing you're doing all this at 12. Wow, wish there were blogs when I was that age. I was extremely opinionated about the books I read and no one cared to listen to me...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think the ad account would have to be in your parents name or something.
ReplyDeleteIt would definitely be cool to get a few reviews published in your newspaper! You should try. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for writing, I'm exactly like you! I just can't stick with it. Or I just never think it's good enough and get stuck in editing while writing! Lol. *shakes head* I'd love to be able to write a book one day too, but I'm not holding my breath for that. ;p
I think its wonderful that you are writing and blogging at the age of 12 :) you should contact your local paper.

You+local newspaper= AWESOMENESS. 12 years old, huh? I feel like an old hag. You'll do good, trust me :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Day Four of Armchair BEA to you!

I had no idea you were 12! After all this time :o) Good for you though. you've done an amazing job with this blog, no matter what age you are. Try being an amazon affiliate, too. Not too much money but it's still good!
ReplyDeleteI would no have guessed you were 12 if you didn't tell me. hang in there and just be yourself!
ReplyDeleteI never would have guessed you were 12. Best of luck with everything!

Wow only 12. Your blog is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou have such an amazing blog! Happy aBEA day four!
ReplyDeleteIf you want to try your local paper, see if it has a teen section. When I was in high school, I wrote some reviews for the teen section of our area's newspaper, as the school system didn't have a school paper. If I remember correctly, they hadn't done reviews until I asked about it. So definitely try asking.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing really well. Obviously, for someone who loses interest fast, you have been very good at keeping your blog going, quite a few posts per month, too!
ReplyDeleteYou should ask your local paper - exploit your age while you can! When you're 22 you're no longer "special" but a 12yo book reviewer, that's so cool!
Maybe your local book shop has a website or newsletter that you can write for, too.
I am continually amazed that you are only 12. You write a lot better than most 12 years I know - which you know is a lot of 12 year olds.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating!
